home alone

Every year on Labor Day Weekend Scott meets his brother in law, Ty and his boys for a camping trip near Greer, Az. This has been a tradition for 7 years now and the best part about this whole weekend, is that the mom's get to STAY HOME! I don't think there is a better vacation for a mom. Mom stays home and all the kids leave, doesn't get better than that. I know, sounds bad but I look forward to this weekend every year. My sister usually gets to see a lot of me, sorry Jason and hopefully I will get a few projects accomplished and maybe squeeze in a little nap in tomorrow after church (and not feel guilty about it). I sent the camera with instructions to please get some great photos... so we will see what big daddy comes back with. Hope everybody's weekend is as relaxing as mine will be. Ha! Ha!

Labor Day Weekend 2005

This is them camping in 2005... Sophie's was not invited & I love Cannon in this picture, it pretty well describes him.

Labor Day Weekend 2007

Last year Ty couldn't make it. So, Scott wanted to keep the tradition alive and left Mom @ home and he took ALL the kids and went to San Diego for the weekend. I love this picture because I can tell that Taylor did Sophie's hair and I love what a great big sister she is to her. This was Sophie's 1st invite, so this year is actually her 1st time camping with the cousins!
Scott is such a sport & a great father, I hope someday they will appreciate all he does.......
I don't think I would ever do this!
in fact i know i wouldn't, because i never have

is Jesus a mexican?

As Sophie and I are getting out of the shower yesterday, she looks at me with a very serious look on her face and says....

Sophie : "Mom, is Jesus a Mexican?"
Mom : "uh NO, he was a Jew"
Sophie: "Oh, the only Jews I like are Heavenly Father & Jesus"
Mom : "Sweetie, we should love all Jews, b/c they are ALL Heavenly Father's children"
Sophie : "So, do we have to love satan?"

I don't want these kids to grow up, I love their innocence!

Cooper's Chronicles

Yesterday I am driving Cooper to school and we are having a conversation about a birthday party he was at on Saturday.  With his street talk accent and as serious as can be.... he says, "all's I know is I need Blake Barney's birthday list!"  My reply, "why is that?" His reply,  "mom, he got $350.00 in gift cards and cash!"  My reply, "wow.... lucky guy!"  His reply, "I just know that I need his list so I can invite all those same people to my party next year!"

It is always a surprise to hear what will come out of his mouth!

✄ the mop is gone

Before
When we got home Sunday evening, Austin's hair was OUT OF  CONTROL...long!  As we were putting kids to bed, Scott told Austin to wash his hair and meet him outside with the clippers!  So here are some shots of Austin sittin' in the barber's chair!

It was quite the project getting those clippers thru his THICK wavy hair
Gotta love the cell phone in hand - Can't go with out that!

Wouldn't Scott make a great barber?

After
AWWWW... nothing better than a fresh new hair cut - smile sweetie- you look so handsome☺

hornet of the week

"Our little Hornet of the week"

Hornet of the week is similar to the star student, so Sophie was quite excited about her poster she got to make and take to school today. The inner circle is a picture of her. The 2nd circle is all the things about her. The square part are all the people she looks up to, heroes, or people who have influenced her life in any way. We decided that she would come up with all the hero's and write them herself, with of course my spelling help. Then I would write what she told me to in the part, "all about me." I am always curious to see what my kids will come up with.

Her Hero's :
  • Heavenly Father
  • Jesus
  • Grandma's
  • Macey
  • Ava
  • Mom
  • Daddy
  • Tiff
  • Kim
  • Halle
  • Ashlyn
  • Taylor
  • Lacey
  • Mrs. Monsegur
Notice the only boys are Heavenly Father, Jesus & Daddy
Things about me :
  • play school
  • dress up like a PRINCESS ♔
  • get pedicures & paint nails
  • snow ski
  • candy bars
  • eat pineapple
  • put make-up on especially lip stick
  • help mom take out trash
  • color & draw
  • wear high heels
  • make-up dances w/ my sister Taylor
  • make-up talent shows w/ Ava & show our parents
  • swim in our pool
  • sing
  • loves to read books - especially PINKALICIOUS!

She came up with all of this herself and I think she knows herself pretty darn well... so I had to document it for my records!
I love my little HIGHLAND HORNET!

anniversary weekend ❤

Thanks babe for convincing me that I can turn my responsibilities over to my mom for the weekend, I had a great time! We have decided that this needs to happen on a quarterly basis. We have seemed to make it out of town with our kids, friends and family with no problem. Then when we realized it had been a whole year and a half since we have been out of town with just the two of us, it made me feel really bad that I have not made it more of a priority! Being alone for a few days helped me to remember why I fell in love and married this person in the first place. Why is it so hard to keep that perspective with the hustle and bustle of kids and "life?" Not that we don't feel that love for each other thru the ever day happenings, maybe it just gets neglected or put on the back burner. I guess I just need to find a better balance with my relationships with my husband and kids and who should come first. I didn't realize what I had been missing out on with this fun, amazing person that I married!
This is one of our favorite restaurant's in Park City

We love our mac computer's!

I had to get a picture in front of our condo - We have it listed right now so who knows what will happen. We have so many memories as a family here and my kids will be really sad if it gets snatched up.

Taylor was having fun with my camera and snapped a picture of these pretty roses Scott gave me for our anniversary - I love getting roses, I am so glad he is a flower guy!

And last but not least... Sophie drew us this picture and taped it up on our wall in our bedroom. She said mom is in her wedding dress (that is why I am wearing nothing b/c it is white) and dad is in his black suit. She also wanted me to recognize that we are holding hands... SO CUTE!
I would love to have one of those psychiatrists interpret my kids drawing, I wonder what they would say about this one?

no saturday chores

When the kids all started filtering thru the front door Thursday after noon, we began to tell them that we were probably going to be leaving and Grandma was coming over to stay the weekend.  Of course we hear... I want to go to the condo.... NOOO don't leave..... WHAT? why are you doing that?..... not fair, I wanna come. You know the typical grunts you get from kids.  A little time passes and I am quickly packing my things.  Cooper comes in with a BIG smile on his face and says, "sweet mom, that means NO SATURDAY CHORES!"

You are a smart boy, Coop!

This made his whole weekend - I never realized how much my kids disliked Saturday work.  What they don't realize about Saturday chores is, is that I was more excited about not enforcing the jobs today, then they are doing them!
