Christmas 2009

This year Christmas morning began at 7:45 over here. Hallelujah... was I ever excited to get a little extra needed sleep. Our kids have always slept in our room on Christmas Eve, this ensures us that they won't see any of their surprises before we wake up. It also gives us a chance to get the camera and video cameras ready to go. They were pretty excited to see what was waiting for them out by the tree.

On your mark. get set. go.....

Christmas morning was filled with surprises

We saved the best gift for last,

our new puppy...

Piper!
And, were they ever shocked! When I first brought Piper out, they thought it was a joke and that she was fake. It took the older kids a few minutes to register what was going on and that she really was their new pet. I was so proud of myself that I was able to pull off a surprise like this. It made our Christmas complete and so much fun.
Cannon and Sophie beamed the rest of the day... their dreams had finally came true.

I think Austin was pretty shocked that we actually bought a dog and I think Scott is surprised at how attached he is to Piper.

It has been tradition now for 15 years, that Scott makes eggs benedict for our Christmas morning breakfast, for all of my family. With all these cousins, we have a full house these days.
Our chef can make some delicious hollandaise sauce, better than any restaurant I have ever found. Christmas would not be the same without it.

I love my family and am so glad I am able to share the holidays with them each year.
After eggs benedict we played some bad mitten

Taylor and Sophie enjoyed riding their new bikes from Santa

And I am sure Piper was pretty freaked out about her new life! She got lots of rides in the girls bike baskets on Christmas Day.

And then last but not least...
Another favorite tradition is the dice game. We have been playing this game since I was a kid and we still play it every year on Christmas night at my parents house. Each person brings three gifts and we put them all in the middle and start rolling for doubles, once all of the presents are opened, we set the timer and the fun begins! You can leave with no less than one gift or you can leave with all the gifts. My parents usually throw in a a couple of $100.00 bills, just to make things interesting and fun! I think this year there was around $500.00 cash, between what everyone brought and then gift cards on top of that. It gets to be pretty competitive and loud the last 3 or so minutes.

Carrie pretty much cleaned house this year, her and Mason were pretty excited about it.

It was a great Christmas as usual.

So fun! I love Christmas, and wish the whole month didn't fly by so fast! K where did you get Taylor's seat cover? We bought Sydnee one of those bikes in Newport this summer and she has the black and white zebra basket cover, but the seat cover is so cure too!
