Happy 8th Birthday to our sweet Emmie....
Eight years ago today, was a scary and dark day for our whole extended family. One I will never forget! When I think back on that day, I remember, my heart was broken for my sister. I wanted to take her pain away, but I couldn't. It was a helpless feeling.
Today, eight years later, I feel completely different. Emmie has taught us some amazing lessons about life and mainly about the Pure Love of Christ. The Lord is wise and has a plan. There is no doubt in my mind that Jason and Tiffany were the perfect parents for Emmie and her situation. They simply amaze me with their selfless acts towards her. She truly is an angel and my kids love and adore her.

At church, I am currently serving in young women's. And, today I taught the lesson on valuing and encouraging people with disabilities. So I thought... what would be better than having Emmie and Tiffany come to the class and be our guest speakers? It was perfect. They did a great job. Thanks.
I wanted to share this hand out that I made for each of my girls. This story was given to Tiffany, when Emmie was just a week old. I love it and think that it describes the experience of raising a child with a disability, perfectly!
I am grateful to a sister and brother in law who teach me daily, how to love unconditionally and to serve so selflessly. We love you guys and are grateful for the sacrifices you make, so that we can all benefit from Emmie's angelic spirit.
Happy 8th Birthday Em Bug ~ We love you.

Tracey, I bet your lesson was beautiful. I have heard the Holland analogy before it is wonderful. The girls in your class are lucky to have such a great leader.
What a cute handout! I would love a copy! I see your sister all the time with Emmy- I always think of her loving care for her as something really special.
I love those pics of her at the beach...so sweet. and the Holland analogy is perfect.

Thanks for sharing. What a sweet experience for everyone involved.

My name is Jennifer, and I happen to stumble across your blog page when I was on a friends blog. I absolutely loved reading this post, as I to have a niece who is now 21 years old with cerebal palsey. She has been a bleesing to our family and it has been pure joy watching her grow and seeing her face light up when we visit. The spirit in a handicapped child can feel an entire room and it's priceless. I wish you and your family a wonderful and safe journey thru this wonderful life our Heavenly Father has given us.
