Taylor

When I started this blog back in Oct. 2007, my intentions were to journal the events in our kids lives and to also replace the whole scrapbook idea.... that I wasn't keeping up with anyways. At the beginning of the New Year, one of my resolutions or projects that I want to finish, is to have my blog printed into a book, for each of our kids. My goal is to hopefully be caught up and have it printed by early spring?! I love the whole idea of having all the holiday celebrations, birthdays, and important moments that happen in each of our kids lives. But most importantly, I want to have a record of the day to day things that happen, that don't seem so important today, but will be treasured in the years to come. When I go back and read my blog, I find that my favorite things to read are the little things my kids said and the things that seemed unimportant at the time. A friend of mine did a post recently... here, that was titled 2010 snapshot. I loved her idea of taking a verbal snapshot of the day to day things that happen in her family, at the beginning of each year. So I thought of doing a similar concept. I thought it would be a good idea to pick a child here and there and document their life, as it is today. I would love to know what my day to day normal life was like, when I was a child or a teenager. I think this will be something they will really like and appreciate someday.

So here is a glimpse of Taylor's life.... as it is today.

  • She can not seem to wake up in the morning, she sets her alarm clock and the alarm on her phone. She sleeps through both of them blaring in her ear. They are so loud that we can hear them all the way in our bedroom. Scott or I, have to get up and tell her to pls turn them off.
  • She can text faster than anyone I have ever seen
  • She doesn't like a particular boy, but she is friends with all of them.
  • She seems to be offered a babysitting job weekly, but rarely takes them. When she does babysit, I am told she is the best babysitter ever.
  • She has recently realized that she has a talent for whistling and let me tell you, she whistles all over the house. You always know where she is.
  • She falls asleep every single night with all her lights on, even her chandelier that is right over the top of her head.
  • She is a spunky little cheerleader. She wears her uniform to school every Tuesday and Thursday and really dislikes it when it is cold outside.
  • She is the last child awake, every single night. She goes to bed around 11:00 p.m.
  • She is constantly cracking her knuckles
  • She still bites her nails
  • She reads her scriptures daily and has a goal to finish the Book of Mormon.
  • She does her homework on her bed with her phone right next to her.
  • 90% of the time, she is late to family scripture study. We read every morning at 7:00 at the kitchen table. While we are reading, she is usually rushing around fixing her breakfast and panicking that she is going to miss the bus. There is usually some drama going on between her and I at this point.
  • Her phone automatically turns off on weekdays at 9:00 p.m. Her dad set this up through verizon.
  • She dislikes most fruits and vegetables, but loves avocados and grapes.
  • She doesn't like to take vitamins in the morning, I usually find them laying on the counter top after she leaves.
  • She tells us that she loves us every time she leaves or hangs up the phone. I love it!
  • Every Sunday, she puts her clean church dress in the dirty clothes bag, it seems to be easier than hanging it back up! Go figure!
  • She really tries to keep her clothes color coordinated in her closet.
  • She takes piano from Sandy on Monday
  • She i chats with her good friends, Maddy and Mayce, who just moved to Colorado and she misses them like crazy!
  • She enjoys having her picture taken and is a cute subject to capture.
  • She loves to bake brownies on Sunday
  • She claims, we never have any food in this house! And, is always trying to talk me into taking her to fast food. She loves it for some reason?
  • Every time we drive in the car, she changes the station and checks herself out in the visor mirror.
  • She is nice to everyone and can make a friend anywhere!
  • She still tries to sneak little snacks into sacrament meeting, in her scripture bag. I catch her every time!
  • She likes her music really loud and listens to all types.
  • She has a huge desire to go to Jerusalem in April, with Scott and I. She talks about the possibilities daily.
  • Most of the time, her hair is in a ponytail... she would rather sleep a few extra minutes.
  • She talks fast
  • She doesn't watch much t.v. ~ but loves the computer and facebook!
  • She is obedient to the "no cell phone at church", rule!
  • She tells me daily, how she really needs to whiten her teeth.
  • She sighs like a teenager.
  • She has a testimony of tithing, she doesn't spend her money until her tithing has been paid. She is never reminded.
  • She drops her cell phone daily.
  • She is a really good water drinker, she always has a water bottle in her hand
  • Her nick names are Tay ~ Tater tot ~ Tay-Tay and Miss Simas
  • She loves to ride the school bus and always has a story about it.
  • She never brings her p.e. clothes home for me to wash. NASTY!
  • She likes to borrow my clothes and seems to be in my closet every morning.
  • She talks in her sleep.
  • She is trying her hardest to teach Sophie how to do a back hand spring.
  • She has her head on straight ~ she is a good girl!
  • She is loved by her mom and dad very much

That pretty much sums it up.

We sure do love this girl and are thankful for her spunky spirit and her desire to choose the right. She keeps things alive at our house.
