Attitude

Tonight, Scott gave our family home evening lesson on how Your Attitude can make a Difference. What a good lesson for anyone, especially for me and each member of our family. We had a great discussion on this subject. A couple of the things that he shared:

First, was a quote by Spencer W. Kimball that I love:

"I remind you... that regardless of your present age, you are building your life;... it can be full of joy and happiness, or it can be full of misery. It all depends upon you and your attitudes, for your altitude, or the height you climb, is dependent upon your attitude or your response to situations."

The part that stuck out to me was your response to situations... We all have bad situations that we either create or can not help, but it is the way we react to our adversity. We had a long discussion about this with our kids and the way they react to each other when they have been wronged by one another.

Second, was the Attitude Indicator:

I love this and I think it really helped our kids understand the concept of the way we see things. It is up to us and the kind of attitude we choose to have with each situation we are faced with.

(Scott wanted each of our kids to hang these on their bathroom mirrors so they could see them everyday... Of course I had to make them somewhat cute, since they were just a white copy from the copy machine. I think I will laminate them so they will last longer.)

I hope this lesson helps our kids look at things with a more positive attitude and reminds them to try harder to find the good, in even a bad situation.

Here are a few pictures of my cute sisters that I took when I was in Laguna last weekend. I think they are adorable... My sisters might think different!?

Tracey, I was wondering if you could share how you access all of these wonderful quotes from our modern-day prophets. I would like to do more of that with my family. Are you just going through www.lds.org or do you have other sources that you draw from? I think there is such power in their words and I would like to follow your great example and share their words and wisdom more often in my daily life. Thanks for being such a fabulous modern-day mama.

tkandgang,
Yes. 99% of the time the quotes I find come from the church website~ usually while reading conference talks or studying my young women lessons. I love quotes and am always on the look out for the one that inspires me that very day!

I need all the help I can get!
