Cooper's broken ankle

For the past month Cooper has been playing tackle football with a few of his buddies.... and of course, he was totally loving it! One of my biggest fears with football is the dreaded moment that one of my boys gets hurt. Unfortunately, last Friday night I got a phone call from the coaches wife that Cooper had been hurt and had possibly broken his ankle. So instead of Scott and I going on our date that we had planned, we spent the evening at urgent care with Cooper! We were so bummed to find out that he did in fact, break his ankle and even worse, he has a 3rd degree sprain. He is pretty bummed out about his out come. He is out of football for the season and having a hard time staying off of his foot.

I took these pictures from my i phone before they put his temporary splint on his ankle. It looks like there was a golf ball under his skin.

Cooper was pretty down the first few days and when I say down, I mean like bummed out kind of down. He couldn't play soccer with his brother in the back yard on Sunday or ride his bike with his buddies, not to mention he couldn't play in his first game on Saturday, the day after he injured his ankle. I took him to the orthopedic surgeon last week and they put him in a boot cast for the next few weeks. The doctor wanted to cast it but I pleaded to please let us use the boot so he could take it off and get into the shower to wash his foot. She agreed as long as it never came off for anything else she would let us do it.

Poor Cooper... watching his dad and brothers play soccer on Sunday afternoon and wishing so bad that he could join in!

So instead, he came and hung out with Sophie and I on the swings.

Things are looking up, he is wearing his boot and seems to be back to normal. Just a little slower at what he does.
