Imagine pulling out of your subdivision and seeing this sight at the intersection of Higley and Guadalupe...

Saturday night @ 9:00 p.m. I got a phone call from Austin and it started out with, "mom, I'm okay... but I've been in a car accident", with loud sirens blaring in the back ground! As I walked out of my bedroom to tell Scott what had happened, I could hear more sirens from our garage... It's a mothers worst nightmare! It's the phone call I have been dreading and hoped that I wouldn't get! But didn't get so lucky. He has had his license for 7 weeks and this is the result.

But thankfully as Scott and I pulled up to the scene we saw our son, with his friends, walking and talking with out a scratch on any of their bodies! A bit shaken, but completely fine. Like I have said before, I don't believe in coincidences! I know that those kids were being watched over and protected! I tear up every time I think of the "what ifs!" When I think of the feelings I had when I saw the parents of Austin's friends, I am so thankful that their kids were okay and that their circumstances weren't different! Austin has been pretty quiet and doesn't want to talk much about what happened. All Scott and I cared to know was... what lesson did you learn? Even though he was following all the rules and wasn't doing anything wrong, paying attention to the road and realizing what more could have happened is the lesson to be learned? It is so scary having teenagers and watching them get into their friends cars or watching them drive away with your little kids to soccer or dance, it just frightens me. But at some point they have to do it and have these experiences. Since the day he got his license, I have had a constant prayer in my heart that he would be watched over and protected. And he was just that, watched over and protected... every person!
We are so thankful for this tender mercy!

What a small price to pay, for such a valuable lesson!

So true! I think even us as adults need to remember that life is fragile and can change in an instant. I learned I need to be more cautious and aware and I know all the teenagers did too!
This is what gives us gray hair...
Glad to hear everyone is okay.
Oh, Tracey. My heart sank when I saw these pics. So glad everyone is okay.
scary!! luckily hes okay! scary night!!
That scares me TO DEATH!!
But, maybe it's good for a new driver to have a close call. He'll probably be a better driver because of it.
I am so glad he and all of his friends are ok! I can't imagine the stress and constant prayers you have to have with teenagers! You are all so blessed!
Very scary indeed. Not looking forward to the time when my son gets his permit/license. I am so glad to hear Austin and his friends are okay... I hope the other people in the red car were also. One of my best girl friends lives at the same cross streets... It's a tricky intersection...
I love how you focused on the lesson learned. I think it's a great way to handle the situation.
So glad that Austin and his friends are okay. What a scary phone call to recieve.
What a blessing everyone is ok. Although we will miss seeing the caddy, it was a small price for such a valuable lesson. He is such a good kid. I love you Aust! xo
Accident scenes are never fun to see. Knowing your son was involved probably intensified it by a million. So gal they are all okay.
been there done that ..... what an aweful feeling, so sorry you had to go through that but grateful it ended good, thank Heaven. The Lord was watching Austin on this day that is for sure.
That is so scary and I am so glad everyone is safe!!! What a blessing! :)
oh no, Tracey. Austin's car made the news. Channel 10 at 10pm... They were talking abt 4 accidents on Higley and Guadalupe, 2 of them being fatal. They mentioned the one on Saturday, no one was seriously hurt. They also mentioned that a mile in each direction - there would be cops hanging out over the next few days...
Again, so glad Austin wasn't hurt. Crazy that he made the news though.
so so glad he and his friends are ok. I swear every teenager in our family gets in an accident after getting their license! He will be super cautious now, at least thats how Melissa is now.
