It has always been a tradition for us to spend our Thanksgiving holiday with the Simas side. Although, this year was a little different from the past 14 years. The reason I say that is because we have always hopped on the big bird and magically.... we would arrive in California in 2 short hours! This year we chose to attempt the dreaded drive which was 12 1/2 hours! Wow... either that was brutal or I am SPOILED?!?
(Probably a little of both)
We left yesterday afternoon and drove to Grapevine - Calif. (thru a major rainstorm) and rested our tired bodies for the evening. This morning, we took our time, ate some breakfast and piled back into the
"Black Love Boat!"
and thank goodness for the x box 360 - lots of movies and the awesome talk tapes (cd's) that Scott and I were able to listen to! I was able to finish a book that I have been working on for a while.
I know, I am sounding pretty ungrateful but, all in all it was not bad. Except for some occasional arguments over... who touched who or who was cold and who was hot- (trying to get that temp right was a little tricky @ times)! Geez.... where do they get these high maintenance traits from anyways!?! ha. I have to say - I actually enjoyed some great conversations with my husband and I had to take advantage of the fact that he had to sit and talk with me and there was no where else for him to go!
We are having a great time already.... My mother in law had an awesome dinner (which was a little teaser - for what is to come) started for all of us, all the cousins reunited and I am getting so excited for our yummy feast that we will all devour tomorrow.
and last but not least.... this place is so beautiful and
I LOVE THE RAIN!
more to come
