Here is what Austin has taken up recently:
The Organ...
This was my Grandmothers organ and her passion in life. She played it beautifully. I loved to listen to her play the hymns and wish I would have appreciated it as much as I do now! Now, I have a son who has the desire to play her organ and I am so grateful for him and his musical talents! This organ was given to my little sisters when my Grandma passed away 7 years ago. It has been sitting at my parents home, for all the grandkids to pound on every time they went for a visit. Just recently my parents sold their home, we grew up in, and through the move Austin asked if he could try and learn to play it since nobody else in the family did. My parents were perfectly fine with that and had it delivered to our home a few weeks ago.
Thank goodness Austin's piano teacher also plays the organ, we have it set up so that he can take back to back piano/organ lessons! It has worked out perfect.
We decided his bedroom was the perfect and safest spot. This allows him to practice when he needs too and it also helps to monitor all the little kids that come in and out of our home, from being intrigued and wanting to touch all the lights and buttons.
It's a kids favorite type of toy!

I have loved listening to Austin practice the hymns on the organ, I can see my Grandma so vividly every time he plays. It gives me chills each time.

I'm so glad Austin is taking on this new challenge! The church needs more organists, for reals! If you've ever been to the Newport Beach stake center, my dad built their pipe organ. He's always telling me that the church is going to run out of organists. Then what? We'll be singing sacrament hymns with the piano? I think not! So tacky:)
Yay for Austin!!!
Truly amazing. I have an uncle who has been the organist in his ward for years and have always admired guys who are willing to learn this art. Go Austin!
Love it! I think it would be so great to be able to play the organ! Go Austin!
You know grandma is beaming ear to ear every time he gets on it!!! I love listening to him play! Love you Austy... I hope your swipe card comes soon! LOL
