Valentines Day

We had a lovely Valentines Day. I think I may have gained a few pounds from all the sugar cookies, cupcakes and candy I consumed!

I did something different this year that was really fun. I emailed my parents and my in-laws and asked them to each come up with a short note about what they "love" about each of our kids or what is "special" about that child in their grandparents eyes. I then took their notes and folded them individually and put them in a bowl and we passed them around and read them out loud! This took a little while, but it was so fun to hear the different things that each grandparent had to say about each child. I loved to see their faces light up when all the attention was on them. I mean, who doesn't like to hear all these nice, positive compliments about themselves?! Anyone would feel special. I am so glad that I did this because this is something that will become treasures to each one of us, 10 or 20 years down the road! I saved each email, printed them out and put them away!

I am grateful for loving parents, who are great examples, on both sides.

Scott is always so good to me and our girls on Valentines. The girls always get some kind of flower arrangement/balloons/stuffed animal, delivered to their school and I am usually delivered red roses! My favorite.

When I was a little girl I can remember always getting a Valentine from my dad delivered to me at school as well... and he is still doing it! My sisters and I all got delicious, chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our homes! My dad is still so thoughtful to his girls. I love the example he sets for the rest of the boys and men in our family.

What a great day!

I loved reading about how your Dad brought you a valentine to school. WOW! He must be a great father.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who ate the whole box by themselves hahahaha! I kept justifying myself thinking they would be soggy in the morning if I didn't finish them. The white chocolate ones were to die for.

Haha I agree. Your home made Valentines Day look a lot more beautiful and exciting than it was at our home. I love it!! I need to be more festive.
I love looking at your blog once in a while! I'm not a big blog looker but your kids are darling, your pictures are stunning and love your writing.
