"Arrow of Light"

Good bye Webelos, hello 11 year old scouts! Tonight was an eventful evening for Cooper, he has been working with his cub scout troop for the past year, passing off requirements, doing service projects & just plain... having FUN! He earned his arrow of light award & he was able to cross the bridge and enter into the 11 year old scouts. The leader of that group actually comes to the pack meeting to welcome him to Boy Scouts. This is the transition from cub scouts to boy scouts, you go from blue shirt to brown shirt! So, this was his very LAST pack meeting!! (which I am sorta sad about, they grow too fast) It is a pretty cool little ceremony that happens, 3 indians walk you around a fire, talk to you about your advancement, you have to repeat the scout oath, they invite the parents to come up & be there with him while he receives the award. At the end of the ceremony, the indian guy gave Coop the choice to either cross the bridge to boy scouts or stay and be a cub? He actually paused for longer than a moment, like he really didn't know what he was going to do, I didn't know if he didn't hear the question right or what he was thinking? I over heard him after it was all over, telling his buddy, Blake that he was actually contemplating what he should do... scouts or cub scouts?? (this is so Cooper). He rides his bike from the school straight to scouts, with his buddies every week.... I think he is going to miss it & he doesn't want to miss out! We love you Cooper and are so proud to see you progressing in your life,  you are growing up too fast. Congratulations on your, Arrow of Light!

I love this kid!

When you advance from one group to another, this is what you have to drink
The drink has gummy worms & crushed oreo's @ the bottom
Bro & Sis Smith are awesome
We love you!

I love when they make a big deal about progressing from one phase to another. Those ceremonies great and the boys will never forget receiving their arrow of light because of it.
He sure is a cute kid. I think he looks the most like you.

Hey Tracey - looks like fun for your Cooper - My Tucker is only a year behind him - He just loves scouts. I think our wards will be at day camp together (if your son still goes to day camp) - he looks a lot like you - andi
