Any one need a new motor home? Last month we went up to Roosevelt Lake with our neighbors & another family in our ward. We had a great weekend with all the kids. We played cards, wake boarded, hung out, talked, ate, ate & ate! Needless to say.... after a fun time, we packed everyone up (my own 5 kids, plus 2 neighbor girls, & my niece) Sat. evening & left around 8:30 p.m. The Flakes left the same time, but ended up passing us, due to the large load we were carrying. (Just a side note: we are pulling Scott's truck behind this huge motor home) So we have the movie "Church ball" on in the front & 3 kids in the back watching "The Bee movie". Out of the blue we hear a "pop", Scott says, " great we have a blow out, call Jim & ask him to come back & help us." As I am finishing my call, we are still pulling over & we hear another "pop"! So, Scott hops out walks around the front of the motor home & sees that his truck is on FIRE! I am sure you can only imagine the DRAMA that is going on @ this moment?! All I am thinking is I gotta get ALL these kids out! 3 of the littlest ones are sleeping in the back master bedroom w/ the door shut. Wow, I have never had as much physical strength as I did @ this moment to get these little ones over my shoulder, they were in a dead sleep! Cannon finally realized that I was really scared & he needed to wake up. I told all the big kids to take the little ones & run up the highway as far as they could, I am thinking it is going to blow up. The first guy that stopped to help was very intoxicated and when he heard Scott yell to call 911 he ran like Marion Jones to the pharmacy!(Scott wrote that part) In the meantime Scott is done w/ the fire extinguisher, on my 3rd down comforter trying to smother the fire, when he finally is resolved to let it burn. Austin makes the 911 call & we waited 8-10 mins. for all 9 fire engines to arrive, the Flakes made it back to us with in 5 mins., so this shows you how fast his truck & motor home burned. They shut down the highway both ways & I was pretty saddened while we waited just thinking of all my "THINGS", my kids "THINGS", that we were loosing in the motor home. I remembered my wedding rings were in the bathroom cupboard, pretty much every dvd we owned, my video camera, Scott's nice watch, & etc. I had packed all my stuff in the back master closet on top of all Scott's fireworks he kept back there. So when they started to go off, (which was a great show) I just looked @ my good friend Hope & we started to laugh as I told her, everything I brought was on the top of those fireworks! Very quickly, I became extremely grateful that those "THINGS" were not my children, my niece, or the Flake girls! My perspective changed & I was so thankful that the Lord was watching over our family and that we were indeed sooo BLESSED! I will not deny that I was pretty excited when the firefighter came out with rings & watch in hand, I couldn't believe they made it!
Sorry to those who have already heard this story a million times, but I wanted to have it for my records.
